Lorica, 7 febbraio 2017 – Le impegnative piste del Centro di sci di fondo di Carlomagno hanno vissuto un ennesimo fine settimana di festa, grazie al Criterium Interappenninico 2017. Tornata dopo un anno di pausa, la tappa Sud del Criterium è uno degli eventi più importanti a livello nazionale.

La manifestazione, organizzata dallo A.S.D. Sci Club Montenero con il patrocinio dell'Ente Parco Nazionale della Sila, è stata una due giorni intensa ed emozionante, che ha visto la partecipazione di centinaia di atleti.

Nonostante la pioggia e il vento, i partecipanti hanno tenuto duro. Del resto “i fondisti hanno testa dura”, come ha ricordato il neo Presidente del CAL Bianca Zupi mentre assisteva alle gare di questa due giorni a tecnica classica.

Lorica, 7th February 2017 – The challenging ski tracks of Carlomagno Cross-Country Ski Center have witnessed another celebration week-end, thanks to the Criterium Interappenninico 2017. Back after a year off, the Southern stage of the Criterium is one of the most important national meetings.

The event, organized by the A.S.D. Montenero Ski Club with the sponsorship of Sila National Park Agency, it has been an intense and exciting two days, which saw the participation of hundreds of athletes.

Rain and wind notwithstanding, the participants held out. After all “cross-country skiers are strong headed”, as the newly elected President of the Cal, Bianca Zupi, remembered while assisting at the classic technique races of these two days.

A dominare è stato proprio lo Sci Club Montenero, che oltre alle medaglie in varie categorie e ai piazzamenti su numerosi podi si è messo in tasca sia la vittoria dei Giovani Maschile, grazie a Francesco Verardi, che quella dei Baby Maschile con Francesco Loria.

Sempre lo Sci Club Montenero è riuscito poi a salire sul primo gradino del podio anche nel Memorial Corrado Cecco – la gara di sabato, riservata ai più piccoli – davanti al Capracotta (IS) ed al Winter Sport Club di Subiaco (RM), nonché nel XXIV Trofeo Florense di domenica, dove si è piazzato davanti alla Unione Sportiva Pescocostanzo (AQ) e ancora una volta al Winter Sport Club di Subiaco.

And it was just the Montenero Ski Club that ruled the competition. Beside various medals and places on several podiums, they managed to conquer first place in both the Giovani Maschile category, thanks to Francesco Verardi, and in the Baby Maschile, with Francesco Loria.

The Montenero Ski Club managed to climb once again on the higher step of the podium in the Corrado Cecco Memorial as well – the competition held on Saturday, reserved for the children – coming in front of the Capracotta (IS) and of the Winter Sport Club of Subiaco (RM), not to mention in the XIV Trofeo Florense held on Sunday, where it finished once again first in front of the Unione Sportiva Pescocostanzo (AQ) and, anew, to the Winter Sport Club of Subiaco.

Non a caso il Presidente del Montenero Salvatore Loria ha potuto parlare di “un risultato che va ogni oltre aspettativa, che premia i tanti sacrifici di questi ragazzi e delle loro famiglie fortemente dedite a sostenere la loro attività”. Ha poi annunciato ai presenti come il Sodalizio Sangiovannese si stia adoperando per una raccolta fondi da destinare alle popolazioni terremotate dell'Abruzzo.

Dopo questa prima tappa svoltasi qui sull'Altopiano della Sila il circuito tornerà in pista con tre giorni di spettacolari gare a skating i prossimi 17/18/19 febbraio, in Abruzzo ad Alfedena (AQ) per le finali – in occasione delle quali saranno anche consegnati i fondi raccolti per le popolazioni terremotate. 

It was not by chance that the Montenero President Salvatore Loria has been able to talk about “a result beyond every expectations, that rewards the many sacrifices that both these athletes and their family do”. He then remembered how the Sodalizio Sangiovannese is organizing a fundraiser for the populations affected by the earthquake in Abruzzo.

After this first stage held here on the Sila plateau the circuit will be back with a three days of spectacular skating competitions the next 17th/18th/19th February, in Abruzzo at Alfedena (AQ) for the finals – when the funds raised for the populations affected by the earthquake will be presented.
