The "International Charter of Ecomuseums" reads:
"The ecomuseum is a cultural institution that permanently ensures, on a specific territory and with the population’s participation, the functions of research, conservation, enhancement of a set of natural and cultural assets, representative of an environment and ways of life happened there ".
The conservation of the environmental heritage in harmony with the development and redevelopment of the territory is a guiding principle for all sensitive administrators who find themselves managing areas rich in nature and history. However, it is necessary to know the territory in all its aspects in order to better spread this knowledge: only in this way it is possible to protect the environment and the traditions linked to it while developing creativity, civilization and progress. An important tool of knowledge and divulgation is represented by the ecomuseums, such as the Museum of Agro-lithophoresis Civilization, the Arts and Traditions of the Sila National Park located in the municipality of Albi.

The Museum of the Agrosilvopastorale Civilization, Arts and Traditions of the Sila National Park is part of a major redevelopment project of the Sila territory, in particular of the Sila Piccola, and its promotion as a destination for cultural, tourist naturalistic and sporting flows, with particular reference to the segment of visitors interested in protected areas, to enhance the link between historical-cultural, ecological-environmental and food-and-wine heritage.

The Museum was built thanks to the commitment of the City of Albi and the Department of the Environment, Department of Environmental Policies, and the fundamental contribution of the Sila National Park.
